MOLECULAR ASSESSMENT OF GENETIC DIVERGENCE AMONG MAIZE GENOTYPES

Research carried out in 2021 at the Jeser Al-Musayyab Company, Baghdad, Iraq, determined molecular variations among 10 inbred lines of maize (Zea mays L.), for use future production promising F1 hybrids. DNA sequencing random polymorphism technology using Inter Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSR) with five primers (UBC 834, UBC 835, 856, 866, and 897) assessed genetic maize. All produced 29 bands, averaging 5.8 strips each primer. The four primers, 897, had same highest number proliferators weights ranging from 100 to 2000 bp. primer 856 showed lowest number, a weight 100–500 total polymorphs was 24, percentage 82.4%, (80%) recorded 856. least discriminatory efficiency ability values were 17.24% 16.66%, respectively. Relying on binary data divergence UPGMA method create kinship tree, separated into two groups, i.e., A, B, secondary, sub-secondary groups. similarity (with divergence) estimated according Nei Li coefficient 0.23 between HS S-10. presented findings can provide further guidance help analyze diversity populations.
